Expansion of the HECS-HELP Benefit for early childhood education
To further encourage and support early childhood teachers working in areas of high need the Government has expanded the scope of the HECS-HELP Benefit for early childhood education teachers.
- expanding the eligible postcodes to include all rural and remote areas, including regional cities. Areas with high indigenous population and areas of socio-economic disadvantage will continue to be targeted.
- removing the requirement to spend 50 per cent of the week ‘teaching’.
The expanded benefit is available from 1 July 2012 for the 2011-12 income year and later years.
