Rural, remote or very remote areas

Rural, remote and very remote areas are defined by the Modified Monash Model. The MMM classifies locations into metropolitan, rural, remote or very remote.

The MMM is available on the Department of Health and Aged Care website at: https://www.health.gov.au/topics/rural-health-workforce/classifications/mmm.

Indexation may be waived while you are working in rural, remote or very remote areas of Australia. Once you are no longer working in rural, remote or very remote areas of Australia, indexation on your remaining HELP debt will recommence.
