When to contact your higher education provider

Your provider is your primary contact if you:

  • Are thinking about study

  • Want to know if you are eligible for a Commonwealth supported place (CSP)

  • Want to know if you are eligible for a Higher Education Program Loan (HELP) loan

  • Have identified incorrect loan charges on your HELP loan history

  • Want to make a complaint

When to contact the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

The ATO is responsible for HELP debts. Contact the ATO if you have questions about:

  • How much you owe on your HELP debt

  • Indexation on your HELP debt account

  • Accessing ATO online services

  • Pay as you go (PAYG) withheld amounts

  • Compulsory repayments

  • Voluntary repayments

When to contact Services Australia

You should contact Services Australia when you have questions about:

  • Youth Allowance

  • Austudy

  • Abstudy

  • Tertiary Access Payment

  • Pensioner Education Supplement

  • Student Start-up Loan

    You can contact Services Australia on 13 24 90 or find information about student payments on the Services Australia website.
