CSPs are not available at all providers or for all courses.

Higher education students may be eligible for a study loan from the Australian Government to cover some of their study expenses. These loans are called Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loans.

Eligible students are able to access HELP loans to defer the cost of their fees and do not have to repay this loan until their income reaches a certain amount.

There are 5 different types of HELP loans available to eligible students. Listed on this page are only those that you may be eligible for.

It is important to be aware that only your provider can assess your eligibility for a HELP loan when you submit your HELP loan application with your university or higher education provider. They may ask you to submit evidence of your citizenship or residency status.

If you are not eligible for a CSP and/or HELP loan you still may be eligible for other financial support from the Australian Government while you study. This support, such as Austudy, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance and Government Rent Assistance, is available through Services Australia
