The Department of Education has identified a small proportion of current and former students whose Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loan records were not properly transferred to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

This means some loan information was not visible in an individual’s HELP debt records at the ATO.

The Department of Education and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations worked together to provide information and support to people affected by delayed loans.

The Department of Education has contacted affected individuals progressively from May 2023 to provide additional information and support.

Updated loan records should now be visible on your ATO account.
